Empowering Tsomo Learners Through Career Awareness

Vulindlela Educational Trust’s 2026 Career Awareness Campaign reached 1,552 learners across four secondary schools in the Tsomo area.

On 27 and 28 July 2026, Vulindlela Educational Trust successfully conducted its Career Awareness Campaign at Tsomo Secondary School, Mangelengele Secondary School, Gobinamba Secondary School and Ndyebo Ntsaluba Secondary School.

The school-based campaign reached 1,552 learners across Grades 8 to 12, providing them with information and guidance to support informed educational and career decisions.

Supporting Learners at Critical Stages

Among the campaign beneficiaries were 460 Grade 9 learners, who received guidance at an important stage for subject selection and early career planning.

The campaign also reached 377 Grade 12 learners preparing to make immediate decisions about post-school education and training. Together, Grade 9 and Grade 12 learners accounted for 837 of the campaign’s total beneficiaries.

Learners were introduced to university and TVET education pathways, programme and admission requirements, subject choices, career opportunities and the importance of planning for life after school.

Collaboration with Education and Training Partners

King Hintsa TVET College participated in all four school sessions. Its presentations were informative, engaging and well delivered, providing learners with valuable guidance on TVET programmes and vocational career pathways.

Vulindlela Educational Trust also extends its appreciation to Mr Vuyisani Nkwenkwezi, a University of Johannesburg graduate and Friend of the Trust, for sharing valuable information and insights on university pathways with the learners.

Through these presentations, learners were exposed to both vocational and university education pathways, helping them better understand the range of opportunities available after completing school.

Taking Career Guidance Directly to Learners

The successful completion of all four sessions demonstrates the value of taking career guidance directly to learners within their school environments. This approach enabled the Trust and its partners to reach a significant number of young people while making information about post-school opportunities more accessible.

The campaign also highlighted the importance of collaboration between schools, education and training institutions, community organisations and professionals in helping young people make informed decisions about their futures.

Vulindlela Educational Trust remains committed to expanding access to career guidance and educational opportunities for learners in rural communities.
